In 2019 the State of California approved Assembly Bill AB5 to ensure all workers, including mental health providers, would not be exploited by indiscriminate corporative practices (e.g., excluding them from benefits and family assistance). It came into effect on January 1st, 2020. The AB5 law generally does not allow hiring LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC as Independent Contractors. Although some companies in California continued to hire LMFT and LCSW as independent contractors, we proud ourselves to offer all of our LMFT and LCSW employment as W2 employees.
